Steve Warren

Previous Vice Chancellor, Office of Research

Steven F. Warren is the previous Vice Chancellor for the University of Kansas Office of Research and professor of applied behavioral science. Prior to 2007, he served as Director of the Life Span Institute at KU.
As Vice Chancellor, Warren lead an extensive organization on the Lawrence campus that includes 12 University Research Centers and Institutes, two state surveys, two affiliated centers, and a number of core research resource laboratories. He was president of the KU Center for Research, Inc., the nonprofit research foundation responsible for the administration of research grants and other external awards.  He also shared overall responsibility for the KU Center for Technology Commercialization.
Prior to coming to KU in 2000, Warren was at Vanderbilt University for 18 years. He was a professor of special education and psychology and deputy director of Vanderbilt's John F. Kennedy Center for Human Development. His academic background includes three degrees from KU, including a Ph.D. degree in child and developmental psychology.
After a one-year research leave he will return to full-time research and teaching in the fall of 2015.
